SUMMARY
Within the framework of STELLAR, the development of coatings requires precise measurements (pressure, temperature, hygrometry...) at the level of the leading edge in flight and in the wind tunnel in order to know more precisely the operating environment.
LMSM will develop a flexible non-intrusive measurement instrumentation, based on CaptiFlex™ technology to instrument the same leading edge that will be tested in wind tunnel and in flight. The long length instrumentation will be based on flexible digital sensors.
The collected data will be stored in a database with a specific interface facilitating their correlations.
CONCEPT
The instrumentation will contain alternating strips of coatings and strips of digital sensors to measure pressure, temperature, hygrometry and vibration. In order to limit errors, the same BA will be used in flight and in the wind tunnel. Photos will also be taken in flight.
The use of digital sensors for long instruments requires a new cabling design to avoid signal disturbances.
To overcome the disadvantage of the accuracy of measurement of these sensors a new method of calibration will be developed.
Flexible sensors will be developed in order to install them at the level of the stop point of the leading edge.
ADVANTAGE
It will be possible to test several coatings at the same time under similar conditions and to understand the parameters impacting their operation.
The use of digital sensors offers significant cost reductions for the measurement instrumentation.
Having information at the stop point is very useful because at this location, the stuck insects generate the most turbulence responsible for the overconsumption of the aircraft.
An important gain will be realized on the installation time of the measurement instrumentation which will be designed in workshop and installed in a few hours on the leading edge.

The data collected during the tests and the ease with which they can be correlated will be very useful for partners developing coatings and other solutions and will allow them to better adapt their development.
